Before being assigned to any shipboard duties in relation to safety or pollution prevention, seafarers engaged in any capacity on board need basic training in personal safety and social responsibilities with personal survival techniques, fire prevention and fire fighting, and first aid. The training is given in accordance with STCW-95, Tables A-VI/1-1, A-VI/1-2, A-VI/1-3 and A-VI/1-4 of the STCW Code.
ADDITIONAL: Competence will be evaluated on continuous assessment and on completion of each module of the course candidates will be issued with a certificate which will be numbered for reference. A minimum of 6 candidates are required and the course fee includes refreshments, notes, stationery and sundry materials, a light lunch, and transport to and from the wet drill. Candidates are to bring along their ID/Passport on the 1st day of the course.
