A new format was introduced by Unicorn Training in 1998 with both Petroleum and Chemical Tanker Safety courses run as one programme over seven consecutive days, but may still be held as separate courses of 5 days each if required. The courses meet the requirements of the S.A Code of Maritime Qualifications and paragraphs 8 to 21 of STCW-95 A-V/1, and the courses are accredited by SAMSA. Successful candidates will be issued with certificates on completion.
REQUIREMENTS: All candidates must be in possession of a valid Fire Fighting certificate, must have completed a Tanker Familiarisation course and, for a certificate of competency endorsement, should have completed at least six months experiential training on a tanker. Candidates to bring along ID/Passport on 1st day of course.
ADDITIONAL: A minimum of 8 candidates are required to make the course viable and the fee will include manuals, stationery, writing and sundry materials, specialist lecturers fees, and teas and lunches daily.
DURATION: 7 consecutive days for the combined course. 5 days each for separate courses.
